Welcome!

The Parenting Well Blog addresses topics related to the parenting journey.

You may be visiting this blog because you are considering growing your family, having difficulty conceiving, experiencing pregnancy, expecting a baby, newly parenting, or encountering parenting obstacles. I intend to write blog posts that provide information rooted in science and offer compassion on a parenting journey full of joys and challenges. I want to introduce you to topics that may be new to you, like mindfulness, self-compassion, and attachment theory. I also want to explore the relationships between physical and mental health, the benefits of integrated healthcare, and the importance of finding support from professionals and others in your life. I want to discuss the importance of generally caring for yourself in service of you and your family.

I am a licensed psychologist.

I am a licensed psychologist practicing in Houston, Texas. I completed graduate school at the University of Texas in Austin, where I deepened my appreciation for bar-b-que, sunshine, and the energy of citywide events (Iā€™m looking at you, SXSW). I finished my clinical internship and postdoctoral residency in Houston at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center. Houston has always been my home, and I love this city ā€“ the diversity, museums, Medical Center, sports teams, and friendly nature of those who live here. Oh, and did I mention the food?

As a psychologist I deeply value offering treatment that acknowledges your unique strengths and uses well-researched methods to help you achieve your goals as efficiently as possible.

I am passionate about caring for individuals pursuing pregnancy, experiencing pregnancy, or parenting.

As someone who has experienced pregnancy, miscarriage, and parenting, as well as traveled these roads with friends and family, I have the utmost respect for individuals and families on those journeys. Even with excellent medical care, women, partners, and parents-to-be often feel confused, exhausted, anxious, sad, and alone. I want to fill in the gaps by supporting you and helping you feel more connected.

I want you to feel empowered to manage every step of your journey with intention and wellness. I offer individual and group services that provide education, like how to actively communicate with your healthcare providers, how to recognize signs of depression or anxiety, and how to stay present throughout challenges. I also hope that group offerings provide you with ongoing support as you develop relationships with other people experiencing something similar to you.
