The Parenting Well Services

Pre-conception, perinatal, postpartum, parenting, oh my!

When I was planning my wedding, a trusted adviser pointed out that wedding planning may be one of the biggest projects people take on with absolutely no training. I remember when my mom and I felt like we had accomplished a huge task booking a local restaurant to serve food, only to learn we needed to hire a separate company to provide drinks. The bartenders told us we then needed to decide who would provide ice. Ice? How were we supposed to know whether the restaurant or bartenders should bring ice? We certainly didn’t, and something as simple as ice (that we assumed came in drinks, which came with food) suddenly felt very challenging.

I would argue that family planning, pregnancy, and parenting happen similarly, with many “ice” decisions, often little guidance, and much bigger stakes. Sure, you seek basic medical care, and you may choose to read a book or two and take the optional classes on CPR and diapering a baby. But what about the many experiences you may have that aren’t addressed in books? What about all that happens between medical appointments and diaper changes? What about the rushes of intense emotions or dull, lingering ones you didn’t necessarily anticipate? What about the moments you feel alone? Wouldn’t it be nice to feel prepared for the unexpected parts of your journey and like you belong to a community that can support you along it?
